FAQS
General Questions
Epigenetics refers to changes in gene activity that do not alter the DNA sequence but can affect gene expression. These changes are influenced by various factors such as lifestyle, environment, and age. Understanding epigenetics allows us to see how external factors can impact our genetic code and overall health.
A biological age test measures the age of your cells and tissues, which can differ from your chronological age. It provides insights into your overall health and can help predict the risk of age-related diseases. By tracking your biological age, you can see how lifestyle changes affect your health over time.
Testing Process
You can purchase a TruDiagnostic test kit directly from our website. Simply choose the subscription that works best for you, or purchase a single test to try it out.
Each test kit comes with detailed instructions and all the necessary tools to collect a sample at home. You will either use a small lancet to prick your finger and collect a few drops of blood on a provided blood spot card or the Tasso device to easily collect blood from your arm. The process is simple and minimally invasive.
After collecting your sample, use the prepaid shipping label included in your kit to send it back to our lab. Ensure the sample is properly sealed and packaged as per the instructions.
Your results will typically be ready 2-3 weeks after our lab receives your sample. In some cases, due to our strict quality control standards, a sample may need to be retested. If this happens, processing may take up to 2 additional weeks. You’ll receive an email notification when your results are available, and you can access them through our secure online portal.
To ensure the highest accuracy, we follow strict quality standards, and it’s normal for some samples to require retesting. If this happens, processing may take up to two additional weeks.
A sample may fail due to:
• Insufficient blood sample – Not enough saturation for accurate testing.
• Low DNA yield – The sample doesn’t contain enough extractable DNA.
• Contamination or dilution – External factors affecting sample integrity.
If your sample fails, we will automatically rerun it twice. If it still does not meet our quality standards, our customer support team will contact you to discuss next steps. In some cases, a replacement kit may be needed, with a $20 fee depending on the reason for failure. If the issue is due to a lab error, we will provide a replacement at no cost.
